The Kimmel Carter team had a great time collecting toys again this year for the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware’s holiday gift workshop.
One of many Ronald McDonald House facilities across the country, RMHDE provides a supportive “home away from home” for the families of seriously or chronically ill and injured children being treated at local hospitals, including the Nemours/ Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Families who stay at the House are asked to make a donation of $15 per night, but no one is turned away due to an inability to pay, and the House relies on the support of fundraisers, corporate giving, individual donors and volunteers in order to accommodate its guests.

As part of RMHDE’s goal to lighten the financial burden associated with serious illness, the House collects toys each year to ensure that every young guest receives a gift during the holiday season. Local businesses contribute new toys for the House’s “holiday workshop,” where parents can go to pick out several presents, both for their children who are receiving medical care and their siblings.
At the end of Kimmel Carter’s toy drive, a group of staff members had the chance to drop off the presents and tour the impressive, 57,000 square foot facility, which houses and provides a nightly dinner to thousands of families every year.
The Ronald McDonald House cause is dear to the hearts of the Kimmel Carter legal team.
The firm’s Founding Partner, Morton Kimmel serves as legal counsel for RMHDE, is on the RMHDE Board of Trustees and is President of the Kimmel-Spiller Charitable Foundation, which supports the House (Managing Partner Larry Kimmel is also on the foundation’s board). The firm additionally sponsored and participated in the RMHDE 5K in April, 2015.
