Who would miss a beautiful morning at the Wilmington Riverfront?

That’s where a few Kimmel Carter team members gathered on Saturday, April 16 to participate in the annual Ronald McDonald House of Delaware 5K, which began at Frawley Stadium and continued on the boardwalk along the Christina River.

This was Kimmel Carter’s second year in a row sponsoring the 5K. The race is a major fundraiser for theRonald McDonald House of Delaware, “a home away from home” for the families of children who are seriously ill or injured and are treating in the area, including at Nemours/ Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.

Since the House opened in 1991, it has welcomed almost 42,000 families, providing lodging, a daily evening meal, living rooms, activities, and other resources for families who come to Delaware seeking specialized medical care for their children. The independent, community supported nonprofit organization operates almost entirely through the support of fundraisers like the annual 5K and through contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations, civic groups and other sources of charitable giving.

Policy making, governance and financial oversight of the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware is handled by a Board of Directors that includes Kimmel Carter Founding Partner Morton Kimmel, who has also served as legal counsel to the house in the past. Mr. Kimmel and other Kimmel Carter attorneys have represented many families of seriously injured children over the years, and the Ronald McDonald House cause is dear to our hearts.
