The Kimmel Carter team is proud to announce that the firm has been named a “Top Workplace” in Delaware by The News Journal for 2015.
Kimmel Carter placed second in its size category in a list that included a wide range of organizations, from major corporations to nonprofits and a charter school. The Top Workplaces award was based on an employee survey conducted earlier this year by Workplace Dynamics, Inc., which measured factors like company values, culture, benefits and compensation, and employee satisfaction.
In addition to Kimmel Carter’s selection for the list, Managing Partner Larry Kimmel also earned the “Top Leader” award for small business.
To Kimmel, the fact that the firm’s win was based on staff feedback makes it especially meaningful.
“This award really stands out to me,” Kimmel said. “I think we all work hard every day to make Kimmel Carter a great place to work. It’s important that everyone on the team knows they are being listened to and appreciated. So to get this kind of recognition, showing that we are doing something right in terms of our culture and our employees’ happiness and well being – that definitely means a lot to all of us.”

In articles published in the annual Top Workplaces feature in Sunday’s News Journal, Kimmel Carter was applauded for the partners’ commitment to listening to employees and to ensuring that the office is a pleasant place to work.
An article profiling Larry Kimmel highlighted his efforts to implement suggestions from team members and to find ways to make everyone’s job easier. That philosophy helped him win the “Top Leader” award.
Speaking of his approach to managing the firm’s attorneys and staff of paralegals, legal assistants and other legal professionals, Kimmel told The News Journal, “We want [our staff] to dedicate themselves to work when they’re here, but we also want them to be happy when they’re here… We want them to look forward to coming to work and give them a sense of accomplishment when they leave every day.”

That commitment to building positive, respectful relationships within the Kimmel Carter team is tied to Kimmel’s larger goal of creating strong, one-to-one connections with clients, as a second article about the firm explains.
Aware of the personal nature of handling car accident, workers’ compensation and other personal injury cases, Kimmel and his staff go out of their way to make their clients feel comfortable and to give every client the best possible service. According to Kimmel, prioritizing each client begins with returning calls on the same day they are received.
“Sometimes I’m at the office until 9 o’clock returning phone calls,” he said. “We are not just their lawyer. They get to know us.”
